SHAH ALAM - Controversial stand-up performer Jocelyn Chia has addressed the recent controversy surrounding her social media account, clarifying that her Instagram profile was temporarily suspended for "impersonating a celebrity."
In a series of Instagram stories, Chia dismissed claims that her account had been completely suspended, stating, "I was like, who is the celebrity? Answer: Jocelyn Chia!"
She also expressed gratitude to the comedy community for their support during this challenging times, saying, "To the comedy community (with a few notable exceptions): Thank you I have never loved you guys and gals more."
Chia acknowledged an oversight in her previous message, apologising for not mentioning the non-binary individuals in the comedy community and jokingly adding, "Uh oh, now I'm really getting cancelled."
Yesterday, it was reported that Chia's Instagram account had been temporarily deactivated, while limitations were placed on the comment section of her TikTok account.
This came after a video of her making controversial remarks about Malaysia and joking about the MH370 incident surfaced online.
