KUALA LUMPUR - Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan said it would be good if DAP apologised to Umno.
He said this is because the two parties are now working together in the Unity Government.
"There is no issue. It's a good suggestion. If DAP can apologise to the people of Sarawak, then there is no issue.
"If they can apologise, then Alhamdulillah. It would be great because we are working together as one in the Unity government.
"We must be willing to do what is good for the future," he told reporters after the Special Supreme Council meeting at Menara Dato Onn, World Trade Centre (WTC), today.
Previously, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh had demanded an apology from DAP and for the party to retract all accusations thrown at Umno previously.
Dr Akmal said the apology could soften the hearts of Umno members who still doubt DAP's sincerity in becoming their ally.
However, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi dismissed the need for DAP to prove its commitment to the Malay and Islamic agenda with an apology.
He stressed that the matter had been discussed several times during the negotiation phase of forming the Unity Government
