MARANG - The seat allocation process between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Terengganu, involving 32 state seats for the upcoming polls is at its final stages.
Terengganu Umno chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the distribution of seats was finalised after both coalitions engaged in three rounds of discussions over one and a half months.
"At the division level, we have finished, but I don't know, it is up to the leaders at the central level as well.
"It is up to the respective presidents at the highest level to make decisions (to elect)," he said at the launch of the PRN 2023 machinery for Marang Division Umno Division at the Wakaf Tapai National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) Hall on Monday.
Also present were Terengganu Umno deputy chairman and head of Marang Division Umno Datuk Nik Dir Nik Wan Ku, Umno deputy head of Indera Mahkota Division Mohd Faiz Hashim and Terengganu PKR leaders council chairman Azan Ismail.
On the selection of candidates, Ahmad however did not give details on the candidates.
He said the selection of candidates will be made after the state assembly was dissolved.
"For the selection of candidates not yet, when it has been dissolved, the selection of candidates will be announced. However, we already have a 'shortlist' of the candidates and will go through a lot of screening," he added.
Terengganu is among the six states other than Selangor, Kelantan, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan and Penang that will hold the PRN simultaneously expected to take place next August.
