SABAK BERNAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) hints that it will feature many big name candidates with potential to win in the upcoming Selangor state election.
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the list of candidates would be announced by PN in the near future.
"Insyaallah, this time we will announce these big names (as candidates) in Selangor," he said when met after the PN Sungai Besar Parliamentary Dialogue event, here, on Thursday night.
When asked if PN would present a 'poster boy' candidate as Menteri Besar in Selangor, Hamzah said that the matter would be announced after the list of the candidates had been finalised.
He said PN planned to hold a large-scale ceremony with invitations expected to be extended to former Umno leaders at all levels in the name of unifying the Malays.
Hamzah said that the former Umno leaders were among the famous figures.
"I have already met with (former) Umno figures such as Tan Sri Noh Omar, Tan Sri Annuar Musa and several other former Umno leaders.
"We are (planning) to hold a large-scale ceremony together with former Umno divisional heads and deputy heads as well as Umno leaders at all levels," he said.
Hamzah said that his party was finding a suitable date and venue for the ceremony expected to be held in the near future.
Commenting on the distribution of PN seats in the Selangor state election, Hamzah said that the distribution of seats was almost finalised.
"There are one or two seats left (for Selangor state election) where we think we want to find who is more qualified (to contest in) the seats involved," he said.
