SHAH ALAM - Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii has slammed former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin for predicting that a portion of the party's supporters would vote for Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates in the upcoming state election.
He claimed that Khairy was playing games by deliberately provoking the public to gain popularity.
"The data on the number of Malay voters who voted for PN was utilised to provoke and instill negative sentiments towards a country that is currently striving for stability and concentrating on its development.
"So this is a political game Khairy is playing to gain popularity. I don't even know where he got those numbers or the predictions. We don't know.
"That's his own assumption. Whether it's right or not, we have to wait until the voting day (for the state election results)," he told Sinar today.
On Monday, Khairy predicted that a portion of the party's supporters would vote for PN candidates as a way to express their disagreement with the request made by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
Khairy said Pontian MP should urge Umno voters to support candidates representing the Unity Government, rather than encouraging them to vote for DAP.
Commenting further, Razlan said certain individuals support a particular party due to the influence of racial and religious incitement by certain political parties.
However, he expressed that all parties are currently more focused on the priority of restoring and stabilising the country, as many issues related to national development were put on hold.
"So I advise Khairy to study how to develop the country and not to play around by inciting perceptions like how he is doing today," said Razlan.
