State polls main focus of Umno Supreme Council meeting - Bung

KUALA LUMPUR : The Umno supreme council meeting tonight discussed the plans and strategy for the upcoming state polls.

Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin revealed that the seat allocations for the upcoming state polls have yet to be confirmed.

"Discussions are still being held at state levels, we are still discussing the matter.” he said when met after the supreme council meeting held at the party headquarters in Menara Dato Onn here,

Bung however assured members of the media that seat allocations will most likely be confirmed by month’s end.

When asked on the Sabah Anti -Party Hopping Bill, Bung said he was eager for the bill to tabled at the state assembly.

"We are waiting earnestly as before this bill, there have been many incidences of people hopping from one party to another,” he said.

On Wednesday, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) deputy security-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said The Anti-Party Hopping Bill required a comprehensive study that was time-consuming, and therefore was a bit delayed.

He said various procedures had been implemented to enable the Bill to be tabled at the Sabah state assembly meeting this time around.

"What actually is being done in Sabah is for us to look at the provisions of the law approved at the Federal level... So we need to ensure that there is balance not only in terms of the parties but also the wishes and voice of the people.” he was reported as saying
