SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is investigating the sharing of pornographic content involving husband-wife sexual acts that made its round on social media recently.
MCMC in a brief statement said that the commission had received eight complaints related to the intimate sharing of the married couple on social media platforms.
The statement said a Telegram account owner shared the content on social media channels.
"An investigation is underway under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” the statement said on Thursday.
Earlier, the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) submitted an official complaint to the MCMC in regards to the existence of a Telegram account that discussed pornographic topics, allegedly operated by a woman.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar in a statement on Monday said that the matter was under investigation by MCMC.
In fact, Jakim had also been informed that a police report was lodged by the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) to enable an investigation to be carried out, as the suspected individuals resided in Terengganu.
The media previously reported a woman who was accused of spreading beliefs that deviated from Syariah related to marital relations.
The group allegedly used Telegram as a platform to spread the teachings.
Among the teaching promoted by the woman was for husbands to rape their wives and that wives should serve their husbands like prostitutes.
Besides, there were messages in the Telegram group which encouraged husbands to hurt their wives if they refuse to serve them.
