With over 350 local and international exhibitors, the 2023 Malaysian International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) is set to be a keystone event in global food trade this year.
There will be thousands of brands in national produce and food technologies towards greater food security.
The fair will take place from July 12 to 14 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), and headliners at MIFB 2023 will include Greece, Hong Kong S.A.R., Japan, P.R. China, Poland, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
In line with Malaysia’s renewed focus on international trade, MIFB 2023 will spotlight the role of global food and beverage (F&B) networks as a driver of economic growth and security.
The fair has garnered significant exhibitor participation from local and international food and beverage industry players.
Chief among the country pavilions at MIFB this year is South Korea, with one of the pavilion’s key representatives, The Korea Agro-Fisheries Food Trade Corporation (aT), set to bring South Korea’s unique agricultural and fishery products to Malaysia.
Managing Director of aT Center Kuala Lumpur Jang Jae Hyung said their participation in MIFB 2023 is a timely avenue to include food partnerships in broader conversations between South Korea and Malaysia, especially after the recent trade visit that secured RM4 billion in potential imports.
"Besides seizing unique networking opportunities with local agricultural stakeholders, we anticipate exchanging solutions about sustainable agriculture and fishing, changes in the distribution environment, as well as new production and consumption trends," he said in a statement.
Poland will be bringing its wide selection of homegrown European apples to MIFB 2023. Fruit Union, the largest association of Polish producers and distributors of fruit and vegetables, will be in attendance.
President of Association of Polish Fruit and Vegetables Distributors Arkadiusz Gaik said as a tropical country, Malaysia cultivates and appreciates a rich variety of fruits that are popular in the global market.
"We look forward to introducing the finest of European apples to the Malaysian public and F&B industry players, and facilitating discussions on sustainable fruit farming across different climates and terrains," he said.
Meanwhile, Singapore's MATE MATE is targeting the modern consumer with the region’s first all-natural energy drink.
The line uses zero-crash natural caffeine, with clinically-tested Wellmune, and all-natural ingredients including colours, flavours, and without any artificial sweeteners or preservatives.
True to its theme of "Accelerating ASEAN’s Food Security and Sustainability", MIFB 2023 is also setting the stage for responsible trade event practices.
For the first time, the event will be powered by its very own food recycling machine, which will convert food waste from exhibitors into compost specially designed for agriculture and soil quality improvement.
MIFB 2023 is an event of Constellar, endorsed by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and supported by the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).
