SHAH ALAM - Malaysia’s leading agency in nanotechnology and advanced solutions commercialisation, NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB), launched two product certification schemes, NANOTrust and GRAPHENEVerify at Sunway Putra Hotel.
These schemes under the NANOVerify Programme will facilitate and expedite the growth of nanotechnology in Malaysia by enhancing consumers’ trust in products containing nanotechnology.
The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup and witnessed by NanoVerify Sdn. Bhd. Chairman Datuk Fadilah Baharin and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) NanoMalaysia Berhad Dr. Rezal Khairi Bin Ahmad.
The NANOTrust and GRAPHENEVerify Product Certification Schemes, under the NANOVerify Programme, offer small and medium enterprises with nano-containing products the opportunity to secure a credible seal of trust for wider market penetration, both locally and abroad, but also contribute to the creation of a dynamic and progressive nanotechnology ecosystem, as they are transcribed from the National Nanotechnology Policy and Strategy 2021-2030 (DSNN), to solve various challenges and propel Malaysia’s nanotechnology and graphene industries forward.
Over the past two Malaysian Plans, Malaysia has made significant progress in developing the nanotechnology industry.
The country has established itself as a recognised hub for nanotechnology research, development, and commercialisation, with a growing pool of skilled researchers, world-class research institutions, and a supportive policy environment.
The NANOTrust and GRAPHENEVerify Product Certification Schemes are aligned with Malaysia MADANI’s pillars of sustainability, innovation, and trust to drive nanotechnology as one of the nation’s engines of growth. Both schemes emphasise the placement of quality nano-products in the market while addressing the concerns over product claims.
This initiative is also aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Growth (SDG) number 9 in building resilient infrastructure and fostering innovation. Higher-technology industries, which include nanotechnology, are shown to be more resilient in crises compared to their lower-tech counterparts.
MOSTI recognizes the vast and far-reaching potential of nanotechnology, both from an innovation and economic standpoint and is proud to support NanoMalaysia Berhad and NanoVerify Sdn Bhd in the rollout and implementation of these schemes, which are expected to empower the growth of over 1,000 local nanotechnology and graphene product segments, with a projected collective value of RM640 million by 2025.
