KULAI - Humanitarian Care Malaysia Berhad (MyCare) aims to collect RM2.5 million through the MyQurbani programme to perform this year’s sacrificial ritual in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, with the meat packages to be distributed to 13 countries.
MyCare general manager of operations Roha Hassan said the MyQurbani campaign launched last Friday would run until June 25, offering sacrificial packages from as low as RM220.
"What makes it special is that this year, we have an additional package of donating one kilogramme of meat worth RM80 to the people in Syria and Palestine because the existing sacrificial packages for these two countries are expensive.
"In the previous campaign, many Malaysians wanted to extend help to the people in these two countries, but there were constraints in terms of budget. So, in order not to disappoint their hopes, we created this charity package.”
She said this to Bernama when met at the Johor Mcare Aidilfitri Celebration and the launch of the state-level MyQurbani Campaign here last night, with Johor Mycare chairman Rozi Abdul Ghani also present.
Roha said apart from Syria and Palestine, other countries that would benefit from the programme include India, Nepal, Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Yemen and Malaysia.
She added that from 2010 until April this year, MyCare had successfully collected donations totalling RM180 million to carry out various humanitarian efforts.
Meanwhile, Rozi said Johor MyCare received 295 participations for sacrificial ritual last year with a total collection of RM124,960 and aimed to collect RM200,000 this year.
