KUALA LUMPUR - The Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Bootcamp (GEIB) is an effort by the United States Embassy here, in collaboration with Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kendiri Wanita dan Keluarga (PPWK - MADCASH) to boost the skills of Malaysian women entrepreneurs.
It aims to provide women entrepreneurs with the tools needed to establish new enterprises, gain business management skills and methods, and creating value through innovation in the global business landscape.
GEIB is the most recent effort of the United States Embassy's ongoing Wanita Empowered programme, which looks to promote women's economic empowerment through three pillars: expanding access to education, achieving economic parity, and removing barriers to equality.
From July 2023 to June 2024, GEIB will train women entrepreneurs all around Malaysia through 18 online modules from the Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management.
United States of America Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer Katherine Diop said GEIB's goal was to empower women entrepreneurs to enhance their businesses through innovation and achieve their entrepreneurial aspirations.
"We are sketching out a vision in which women of all backgrounds can contribute meaningfully and equally to economic progress and global prosperity,” she said.
Participants will be able to delve deeply into subjects such as the fourth industrial revolution and how firms can capitalise on it, developing a growth-oriented business culture, social entrepreneurship, and utilising value chains as a competitive advantage.
GEIB also encourages applications from women of all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, disability, or socioeconomic condition.
Meanwhile, PPKWK - MADCASH President Nuraizah Shamsul Baharin said as non profit organisation (NGO) that works with women entrepreneurs, it was important for them to roll out this Bootcamp to support more businesswomen with the latest resources and advancements in entrepreneurial education.
"As more entrepreneurs enter the marketplace, our women entrepreneurs' collective economic effect will expand.
"We are committed to ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to realise their entrepreneurial goals and contribute to a more inclusive and prosperous society by providing equal possibilities for growth and learning,” she added.
GEIB is now accepting applications from 20 female entrepreneurs.
Besides GEIB, The United States Embassy and PPKWK-MADCASH are also accepting applications for the fourth cycle of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) from up-and-coming female entrepreneurs interested in beginning and expanding their small enterprises.
AWE is a U.S. embassy-funded exchange programme that provides women with the knowledge, networks, and access they need to start and grow successful enterprises.
