PORT DICKSON - Police arrested a couple in Mambau, Seremban early Monday morning for driving their car against traffic at kilometers 17-19 of the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (SPDH).
Port Dickson District Police Chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed said, a 32-second video of the act went viral on Facebook on Sunday between 5 and 6pm.
"Based on the footage, the car was driven against traffic from Teluk Kemang towards Seremban.
"Acting on public information, at 2am, a police team from the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division of the Port Dickson District Police Headquarters arrested the couple involved at their residence," he said in a statement on Monday.
He said from result of the interrogation of the two suspects, it was revealed that their vehicle had a problem with the engine and the act of driving against the current was to find a workshop to repair the vehicle.
"Both were arrested and a car recorded in the viral video was impounded for further action.
"People are advised not to violate traffic rules that endanger themselves and other road users.
"Strict action will be taken if found to have committed the offence," he said.
The viral video with the caption 'Endangering others, at the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway' also received various reactions from social media users.
