KUALA LUMPUR - The Unity Government's initiative, which has been implemented for six months, has shown a decrease in inflation from 9.6 percent to 9.3 percent since 2021.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the Rahmah initiatives have successfully reached the target of the B40 group, benefiting up to 126,000 people.
"We have implemented various packages such as Jualan Rahmah, Menu Rahmah, Rahmah Car Service Package and at the end of this month, we will be introducing Rahmah Insurance,"Salahuddin said.
He said this during his speech titled "Bicara Rakyat - Empowering the People's Economy" at the Unity Government National Convention held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur today.
He expressed his hope that the Unity Government will continue to ensure the success of these initiatives in achieving their intended goals.
"Through the Rahmah initiatives, we have successfully provided discounts on 14,000 items," he added.
Salahuddin also highlighted that the discounted products are available at various supermarkets such as Mydin, Econsave, 99-Speedmart, and more, allowing the public to save around RM20 to RM25.
"This has had a significant impact on households and I never expected that the spillover effect would show the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Although it may seem insignificant to some, items like sardines and bread are appreciated by the people. It may be small but it touches their lives," he said.
