KOTA BHARU - "I was planning to meet the Prime Minister even before Ramadan,” said former Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz when asked to comment about his meeting with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here on Friday.
Nik Mohamad Abduh, or better known as Nik Abduh, said the meeting was just a normal meet up and had nothing to do with politics.
"When I was a Member of Parliament, I always met him (Anwar). SO when he became Prime Minister, I no longer met him.
"So I asked through a contact to meet. I’ve been asking for a longt time even before he fasting month... we couldn’t because he was busy,” he said when met at the Tok Guru Mosque in Pulau Melaka here after Asar prayers.
Nik Abduh said the meeting became a reality when the Prime Minister attended the Malaysia Madani Open House at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium grounds here.
He said he was given the time to meet Anwar after he finished Maghrib prayers.
Nik Abduh said he was lucky to meet Anwar after he was appointed as the Prime Minister.
"I congratulated him and prayed that he would be able to carry out his duties as Prime Minister well.
"I was also entrusted to convey the people’s messages to the Prime Minister. There was no political questions,” he said.
On his brother Nik Omar being there during the meeting as well, Nik Abduh said "it was by chance”.
"My brother came from Kuala Lumpur and we met there. He (Nik Omar) came to meet the Prime Minister.
"I expected the photo of the meeting to go viral because many had took it (filmed). So I’m not interested in going viral because I refuse the give any comments,” he said.
