KUALA LUMPUR - Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi has described the partnership between Pas and Bersatu in Perikatan Nasional as a 'muta'ah marriage'.
In Islamic law, a ' Muta'ah marriage' is a temporary marriage that is contracted for a limited or fixed period.
Zahid also went on to predict that PN will soon show cracks in the coalitions.
"Their partnership ( Pas and Bersatu) is like muta'ah which is temporary, we will just wait and see when the cracks start to show, " Zahid said after the Umno's 77th anniversary celebrations here
Zahid said that Umno was once a victim when they had worked together with Pas in Muafakat Nasional (MN)
"We have tried to be their allies under MN, but that party when they cooperate with other parties, it is known that the other parties will be victimised just like we were once upon a time ago.
" I am confident that the coalition that they have entered into now, when trouble starts brewing, I think the partnership will crack and their political allies will also be kicked aside like what they did to us," he addressed attendees of the event.
Zahid was speaking at Umno's 77th anniversary celebrations at Menara Dato Onn Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center here Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, and Umno supreme council members (MKT) were all in attendance.
The celebration was held simultaneously, involving 12 states, as a platform to strengthen friendship among party members.
The party's anniversary, which is celebrated every year on May 11, is a way for party members to show their support and love for the party.
