KUALA LUMPUR - Tan Sri Azam Baki who has been reappointed as the chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for another year has pledged to transform the agency into the world's best enforcement body.
Azam said he wants to continue striving towards a corruption-free Malaysia, aligning with the agency's vision.
"I am determined to turn MACC the best enforcement agency in the world. We will intensify our efforts in eradicating corruption and promoting integrity, ensuring Malaysia remains a nation free from the clutches of corruption," stated Azam.
Under his leadership, the MACC will work tirelessly to combat corruption, enhance transparency, and uphold the principles of good governance.
Azam's reappointment reflects the confidence placed in him to lead the agency in its crucial mission of eradicating corruption and fostering a culture of integrity.
"I want to continue my efforts in eradicating corruption completely and effectively to reach MACC’s vision that dreams of a nation free of corruption with an enforcement team known worldwide,” he told Astro Awani, today.
Azam thanked the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the turst given to him.
The reappointment was announced by chief secretary to the government Tan Seri Zuki Ali.
He said the appointment was in line with Clause (1) Article 145 of the Federal Constitution, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong approved of Azam’s reappointment as MACC chief commissioner.
Azam was appointed to the post on May 9, 2020 after Latheefa Koya decided to shorten her contract in line with Subsection 5 (3) of the MACC Act 2009. - Awani
