SUNGAI BULOH - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged for domestic investment by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to be increased to 70 per cent this year.

He said EPF needs to achieve this target to assist its contributors.

"I see that EPF has a high investment rate of up to 64 per cent in the country. I am stressing to the CEO of EPF, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan to increase it to 70 per cent.

"This is for the country's needs at present and taking into account the needs of the people," he said during the launch of the new EPF headquarters here, today.

Anwar also said he had discussed with EPF and Khazanah Nasional Bhd on finding an approach to encourage more youths to be involved in start-ups.

"We need strategic approach and yes there is strategies with the implementation of Plus Expressway and the SMART tunnel.

"However, we need an approach that allows youths to participate actively in start-ups as the main focus," he said.
