Haj pilgrims: 683 from Melaka among first batch to depart on May 21

ALOR GAJAH - A total of 683 individuals in Melaka who have confirmed accepting the offer to perform the Haj this year will be the among the first batch of pilgrims to leave for the Holy land on May 21.

State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said they are among 1000 pilgrims who have been selected in the state.

"I am confident those who have been selected are fully prepared to be guests of Allah and I urge them to take care of their health especially during this current hot weather," he told reporters here last night.

Earlier, Rahmad officiated at the closing of the Perdana Haj Course at the Sayyidina Abu Bakar Mosque of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia (UTeM) in Durian Tunggal here.

Meanwhile, Tijah Nduk, 75, said she was grateful to be given the opportunity to perform the Haj with her husband for the first time this year.

Tijah, who was on the waiting list in 2020 that was postponed following the Covid-19 pandemic, hoped she and her husband would be blessed with good health to perform all the rituals easily.

Meanwhile, the state’s youngest prospective pilgrim Noor Nazzuha Nabiha Mohd Nazri, 18, said she was overjoyed to be selected to accompany her parents this year.

"Alhamdulillah, I get to perform the Haj and will be there to assist my mother as she has health problems after suffering a stroke seven years ago,” said Noor Nazzuha who has been a Tabung Haji depositor since the age of seven. - BERNAMA
