JOHOR BAHRU - The Johor government will discuss with the Johor State Sports Council (MSNJ) to determine the rewards for the state’s athletes who win medals at the Sea Games 2023 in Cambodia.
State Exco member in charge of sports Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said the rewards would commensurate with the athletes’ contributions in enhancing the reputation of the country and Johor.
He said 66 Johor athletes are participating in sports like athletics, boating, pencak silat, volleyball, basketball, badminton, cycling and aquatics in Phnom Penh.
"The state government has also provided an initial aid of RM1,000 to all the athletes. The amount (reward) for winners will be discussed with MSNJ,” he said at the Johor Baru Umno Aidilfitri open house here today.
Mohd Hairi said he and a state delegation will be in Cambodia from May 15-18 to lend support to the national contingent. - BERNAMA
