GOMBAK - Former Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar made a surprise appearance at the Aidilfitri Silaturrahmi Event organised by Gombak Setia assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham at Taman Selaseh Fasa 2 on Saturday.
He arrived at noon accompanied by his daughter Nurul Syazwani and was greeted by Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Noh's presence raised questions about the possibility of him joining PN, but the media's attempts to ask him were unsuccessful as he refused to be interviewed.
When the media approached Azmin to ask if Noh would be joining PN, Azmin said that Noh should confirm the matter himself.
Azmin however added that PN and Bersatu always have their doors open to individuals who are committed in accepting the party's ideals and what the party was fighting for.
"In the current political climate, we need support from all parties. I believe he has extensive experience
"It is true that he was previously with Umno. However, he was a figure who dared to reprimand the wrongdoings and cheatings in the party.
"What the next step is, we leave it to him and we are ready to accept anyone who wants to be with PN," he said at the event.
Also present were former Batang Kali assemblyman Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan who is also the former Head of Umno Hulu Selangor.
Ahead of the Selangor state elections, Azmin said that the negotiations for the distribution of Selangor state assembly seats are almost done and a consensus has been reached between the parties in PN.
"Several series of discussions at the PN member party level were held and I presented the report to the Central leadership through two meetings before Aidilfitri.
"The state leader only lgave his views following the consensus of PN members, and we leave it to the leadership to make the final decision," he said.
He said, the number of seats to be contested will be announced at the appropriate time.
