KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the conspiracy to topple the unity government led by him will fail despite parties involved admitting having sufficient statutory declaration (SD) to form a new government.

He also expressed confidence that the unity government will remain until the end of the term despite attempts to topple it.

"If Perikatan Nasional (PN) has sufficient majority, then the coalition can bring it to the next Dewan Rakyat session.

"If they have it (enough majority) then wait until the next Parliament session. Propose the motion (of having majority support) in Parliament, there is no issue," he said.

He said this after attending the Malaysian Red Crescent Society's (MRCS) 75th anniversary celebration and the opening ceremony of the MRCS national headquarters, here, today.

He was commenting on the claims that some parties had sufficient SD to enable PN to form a government.

The Tambun MP also mocked the allegations by describing it as a "weekly babbling"

"It's like a weekly babbling. Before fasting, before and after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, before Hari Raya Aidiladha, before Thaipusam and Chinese New Year.

"But insyaAllah, this unity government will last until the next election," he said.

Earlier, in his speech during the ceremony, Anwar had announced a total of RM3 million allocation for the organisation.

Also present during the ceremony were national MRCS chairman Tunku Temenggong Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah; Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek; Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli.

Anwar said RM1 million was channeled to MRCS from the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

"RM1 million is also allocated from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), specifically for welfare works and efforts abroad and in the country.

"I have also agreed to add another RM1 milllion to ensure that the maintenance and management at the headquarters in the states will be more excellent," he said.
