KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Actor Sharnaaz Ahmad Bazir Ahmad or Sharnaaz Ahmad has submitted a representation to the Attorney General’s Chambers to drop the charge of causing hurt to a security guard at a condominium, last year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Eleena Jamaluddin Akbal informed Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim that the representation was filed by the defence team on Tuesday (May 2).
Meanwhile, Sharnaaz’s counsel Datuk Abu Bakar Isa Ramat on behalf of his team expressed an apology to the court for only filing the representation on May 2 as there were several documents that they needed to complete.
"We request that a date be set in early July to find out the outcome of the representation as the prosecution needs time to examine it," he said at the case mention today.
Atiqah then set July 10 to find out the outcome of the representation.
The 38-year-old actor was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to Izzul Islam Awang, 27, at the entrance of a condominium block in Jalan Dutamas here at 8.30 pm on June 16, 2022.
The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, provides for up to one year in prison or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
Meanwhile, Sharnaaz said his team would try to resolve the case, but they are ready to go to trial if there is no resolution. - BERNAMA
