KOTA KINABALU - Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is concerned about the grievances faced by the people of Sabah and Sarawak regarding the issue of expensive flight tickets.
He informed that he had requested the Transport Minister to provide cheap fares for the people of Sabah who will be returning home to celebrate the Kaamatan and Gawai festivals.
"Certainly, these festivals are of great importance. We have seen the Prime Minister announcing toll exemption for four days for road users in the Peninsula.
"However, I had heard the cries of the people of Sabah and Sarawak who could not return to their hometowns because the flight fares were too expensive.
"Therefore, I am concerned about it and I have requested the Cabinet, through the Transport Minister to give cheap fares to these group in conjunction with Kaamatan and Gawai celebrations so they can return home," he said.
He said this while speaking at the Sabah Umno Liaison Body Aidilfitri Open House here, today.
