SHAH ALAM - Former Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa is set to join Pas, says Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
According to a report by Malay daily Berita Harian, Takiyuddin revealed that Annuar had conveyed his wish to join the party, ending the speculation on the latter's move after he was sacked by Umno.
The revelation was made after former Umno Supreme Working Council (MKT) member Tan Sri Noh Omar confirmed yesterday that he would contest in the state election (PRN) in Selangor under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket.
"Annuar recently informed us that he wanted to join Pas, and in fact, we received many requests from former Umno leaders to join PN," Takiyuddin said.
Takiyuddin, who is also a member of the PN Supreme Council said this when met by reporters at the Kota Bharu Pas Hari Raya open house, today.
According to the report, he said further discussions will take place after taking into account Annuar and other former Umno leaders' wishes to join PN.
"We will discuss this further," the Kota Bharu MP was reported saying.
Previously, Annuar denied having retired from the country's political arena and instead stressed that he would be more actively involved in politics after this.
However, he kept mum about which party he will join and only said he will choose a party with a "good direction".
