KUANTAN - A man who used a vehicle registration plate which says "Sayang Awokk" (love you) on his motorcycle was arrested, this morning.
The 25-year-old man from Permatang Badak was arrested at Jalan Pintasan Kuantan-Pelabuhan.
Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Kamarulzaman Jusoh@Mohamad Daud said the suspect was among those arrested in the Op Samseng Jalanan operation carried out by the Kuantan Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) between 1am and 5am on Sunday.
The operations, he said was carried out by an officer with seven personnel from the district's BSPT.
"The suspect is being investigated under Section 108 (3)(e) of the Road Transport Act 1987 or Section 29 (1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
"We "sayang awok jugok" (love you too) and to parents or caretakers, please monitor your children to prevent them from being involved in unhealthy activities such as merempit (illegal motorcycle race),” he said, today.
Kamarulzaman added that two other individuals aged 22 were also arrested during the operation.
"Both suspects were found to have performed the wheelie (lifting the front wheel of the motocycle in motion) on the road in Tanah Putih near the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
"The suspects were brought to the Kuantan traffic police station for further investigation,” he said.
He said a total of 66 summonses were issued for several offences throughout the operation.
He said offences involving vehicle registration numbers were the highest with 19 notices issued.
"Other offences involved side mirrors (14), exhaust (eight), vehicle modifications (two), licenses (four) and others,” he said.
