KUALA LUMPUR - Social media users are reminded to not fall victim to a fake Zoo Negara Facebook account created to mislead the people.
Zoo Negara, in a post on its official Facebook page said the fake account with its name had organised a non-existent contest.
It said the account did not belong to Zoo Negara and that it was not involved in the contest posted on https://www.facebook.com/ZooNegaraMa/.
"There is a page recently created using the identity of Zoo Negara Malaysia. There was also a fake contest claiming that everyone could win tickets. This is not us.
"Please report this page and the posts to prevent more people from joining. Share this post so that more people can report it," it said in a statement.
The fake account currently has 1,039 followers and had pinned a post on the contest to win four tickets to Zoo Negara for 10 lucky winners.
The contest which was allegedly held in conjunction to Zoo Negara's anniversary was posted on April 18 and had received 8,400 likes, 5,500 comments and 658 shares.
