SHAH ALAM - Malaysian marathon runner and running coach Mohd Syahidan Alias succeeded in his Guinness World Record attempt for the fastest full marathon in a Baju Melayu at the London Marathon on Sunday.
Mohd Syahidan, who goes by the nickname of Edan Syah, 36, posted the caption, "Mission accomplished! We achieved the mission below 3-hours as the Guinness World Record Holder." in an Instagram post
He finished the marathon in baju Melayu (men's traditional Malay attire) with a time record of 2 hours, 49 minutes and 22 seconds.
Syahidan also expressed his gratitude to @bulanbintanghq for sponsoring his attire.
"Thank you to @bulanbintanghq for your trust and opportunity to accept this idea (completing the mission in Baju Melayu).
"You dare to create a new benchmark for what is possible and do the impossible."
"We have done our best to make baju melayu great again. Thank you for your prayers and for supporting the journey. What's next?", Syahidan added.
In 2019, Syahidan managed to set a new world record for the fastest marathon run in the national flag costume category with a time of 2 hours, 54 minutes at the Sydney Marathon.
