KUALA LUMPUR - During the Raya festivities, Muslims are advised to uphold their dignity and conduct themselves in a respectful manner. This was emphasised in a Raya khutbah delivered at mosques in the Federal Territories."

While social media has made it easier for people to share their festivities, it is important to respect the boundaries of religion, it said.

"When sharing content online, it is crucial to maintain appropriate social boundaries and choose clothing that complies with Sharia and is modest."

"Many people want to share their excitement about celebrating Raya on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and others.

"However, it is crucial to remember to observe proper behavior and Islamic morals. This includes dressing in accordance with Shariah, avoiding negative behaviors, not covering aurat, and performing action that could degrade one's dignity,” the text said.

The text added that Muslims should avoid spending money on wasteful things, such as fireworks, during Raya. The text further emphasises that even though such activities may be allowed by authorities, it is essential to prioritise spending money on other needs and family.

"Try to avoid wasting money and bringing danger to oneself, families and to the general public,” it said.

The khutbah further suggests that it is important to be mindful of those who are less fortunate and extend help to them during the festive season. The message emphasises that while many may be celebrating with joy, there are those who are still struggling with sadness, poverty, and illness.

"Extend help to those who need it especially orphans and neighbours facing poverty, take this moment to visit relatives and friends who are going through their sickness whether in the hospital or at home.
