PONTIAN - The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has increased the supply of subsidised RON95 petrol and diesel across the country to meet consumers' needs during this festive season.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the increase in supply will start tomorrow (Friday) until next May 5.
"The government has approved additional quotas for subsidies for diesel and RON95 at 4,030 gas stations nationwide.
"The ministry sees the need to add subsidised diesel and petrol supply during this time.
"People don't need to worry; the petrol and diesel supply this year will be sufficient despite the high demand during Aidilfitri, Labour Day, and Wesak Day," he said.
He said this in a press conference after launching the Rahmah Sale of imported meat at Pontian Econsave Supermarket here today.
During Aidilfitri last year, several gas stations in areas around the east coast were reported to have run out of petrol due to the unusual demand of up to 50 per cent during this time.
The situation had caused some gas stations to temporarily close as they ran out of supplies.
