KUALA LUMPUR - Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has voiced dissatisfaction at not given space to rebut during Prime Minister's Question Time (PMQT) sessions at the Dewan Rakyat.
Speaking to Sinar Daily in Politically Frank interview, he said that was one of the main reasons he was absent during the question and answer session with the prime minister.
"I did not attend the PMQT session because I'm not happy with them (the government). None of the questions sent by the opposition were selected to be answered by the Prime Minister. What would you feel as the opposition?" he said.
Apart from regular parliamentary debates, Hamzah was also unable to attend almost all the PMQT sessions that took place between February 13 and April 4.
Earlier during Fireside Chat interview with Sinar Daily, he said he did go to Parliament due to an eye problem.
Hamzah even explained that he was a given medical certificate (MC) by his doctor and he had informed the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Johari Abdul over the matter.
His medical leave was from Feb 16 to March 1, again from March 13 to 25.
However, during the Politically Frank session, Hamzah explained that the chance to ask question will only be given to those whose questions were selected while those who did not, stand no chance to do so.
The Larut MP also said even if his questions selected to be answered by the Prime Minister, he has no chance for rebuttal.
"Let's say if he answers my questions, I couldn't even rebut. I want a chance to rebut," Hamzah added.
"So, if you really want me to go (to the Parliament), allow me to rebut when he (Prime Minister) answers.
"It's not like I don't want to go. I just do not want to listen to all those crap," he said.
Besides him, two other prominent PN MPs have also been reguarly absent in the Dewan Rakyat. They were PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Bersatu-Pagoh) and Pas president Tan Sri Hadi Awang (Marang).
