BACHOK - A woman who was in her after-birth confinement period was found dead with a stab wound on her neck in an incident in Kampung Beris Panchor, Tawang, here, yesterday.
In the 6pm incident, the 35-year-old victim was believed to have just gave birth to her fourth child 36 days ago.
The victim's mother Zuraizah Mat, 58, said her daughter who previously lived in Kedah, was found covered in blood in the bedroom.
"We also found a vegetable knife in the middle of her neck," she told reporters.
Zuraizah said before the incident, the victim was in the living room before the latter handed over her baby to talk on the phone with her husband who was in Kedah.
She said the victim then entered the room and told her to take care of the baby.
Zuraizah then asked her youngest child to check on the victim who was in the room using a ladder as she was worried about the victim's safety.
"We also tried to break the door several times.
"When we managed to break the door, we were shocked to see her lying on the floor covered in blood with a knife on her neck," she said.
She said her daughter was still alive when they found her and asked the other family members to take her to the Beris Panchor Health Clinic.
She added that the victim had often complained about a stomach pain before the incident.
On Wednesday morning, the victim went to the hospital for treatment.
"She looked stressed since she came back (from the hospital)," Zuraizah said.
