Quarry, industrial activities main cause of haze in Nilai, says MB

SEREMBAN - Quarry activities and new industrial areas opening near Nilai are the likely contributors to haze in the district since Wednesday morning.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said authorities have started checks on air quality.

"I have given warnings to the Environmental Department and the Seremban District Office to observe this matter to avoid additional contribution to the high air pollution index (API) and locals’ discomfort.

"The area is often dry and dusty and quarry operators are asked to spray water (in the area),” he said this in a press conference after an exco meeting, here, today.

The authorities said the API for the area was at unhealthy level of 127.
