KUALA LUMPUR - The gazetting of the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (PSKL 2040) has been delayed to allow further engagement sessions in accordance with the Malaysia Madani concept said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The prime minister said the postponement would give sufficient time for DBKL to hold engagement sessions with stakeholders to explain and get appropriate feedback regarding PSKL 2040 because the lower income group must also be given consideration.
"There are big businessmen who are angry with me since I freezed the approval because we want the structural plan to accomodate our ideas.
"If you want to engage in big development project that can offer billions in profit, please go ahead and do it, but there must also be projects that can benefit the lower income groups.
"We set terms and conditions that projects must benefit the people at all levels. If not the lower income group and the poor cannot live in Kuala Lumpur,” he said in his speech at the Federal Territory ‘Nur Ramadan’ programme, here today.
The Prime Minister had in a statement earlier said the gazetting of the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (PSKL 2040) has been delayed until May 31 to allow further engagement sessions by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) with stakeholders.
Anwar, who chaired the presentation session of the Draft PSKL 2040 by the Federal Territories Department and DBKL on April 7, said he noted the process of preparing the document was carried out in accordance with the requirements set out in the Federal Territories (Planning) Act 1982 (Act 267). - BERNAMA
