IPOH - A three motorcycle crash near the North-South Expressway exit (Bercham-Jelapang) kills two Perak football fans on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred around 1am involving an employee, Muhammad Faiz Bazli Abdul Hamid, 25, and student, Izzwan Syamel Denial Ismail, 18, who both died at the scene.
The incident occurred when both victims were on their way back to Chemor and Bercham after watching the match between Perak and Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) at the Perak Stadium here.
Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said the accident caused another 16-year-old student to suffer injuries on his shoulder and cuts on his arms and legs.
He said early investigations found the accident occurred after the Yamaha type vehicles ridden by both victims collided and crashed.
"The incident caused one of the students to lose control as there was no time to avoid it before crashing," he told Sinar.
He said the accident had two victims declared dead at the scene while one suffered injuries.
Police were now tracking down witnesses to aid investigations.
"The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
Perak FC chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi extended his condolences towards the lives of the fans that were taken due to the accident.
He said Perak FC appreciate the support of fans The Bos Gaurus who attend every week to witness a match.
"On behlf of the management, coaches and players I extend my condolences and pray that the victim's families to remain strong in these hard times," he said.
The Liga Super match yesterday ended with Perak FC losing 0-5 to JDT.
