ALOR SETAR - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor remains stern about attending the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA'23) which is in May.
He said that although he is not invited, he will attend as a visitor with his binoculars.
"I will bring my own binoculars and sit near the airport fence. I told my officers that if we weren't invited, we would buy a folding table and a pair of binoculars for each of us so we could sit by the fence and look at the navy ships and planes.
"There are those selling laksa near the fence so we can eat, they can't drive us away as visitors," he said during a press conference after chairing the Exco Meeting at Wisma Darul Aman, here, on Wednesday.
Sanusi said several preparations were made by the state government, including accommodations, mobility, transport, and security for the grand event.
"As Langkawi Development Board (Lada) chairman and Menteri Besar, I have a multitude of positions related, so if I'm not invited, I will still attend.
"My officers booked hotel rooms months ago; even the vehicles and police motorcycles were also prepared," he said.
Sanusi stated further that he understood the invitation for the event was based on Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari's previous answer in Dewan Negara.
"However, I still hold to the Cabinet's decision to stop me from attending Lima'23 until a decision to cancel the order from the Cabinet is issued.
"When I spoke about the obstacles or prohibitions imposed on the Kedah Menteri Besar, the ministries ignored them, but I think it can only be overturned by another Cabinet decision; the previous decision must be reversed," he said.
Sanusi on Friday expressed his commitment to ensuring all parties visit Langkawi for Lima'23 in May, as it is the most beautiful event of a lifetime.
He said he will ensure all Kedah state government agencies give their full commitment to ensure the smoothness and implementation of all Lima'23 events go perfectly.
