SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth urges the government to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to give due justice to jailed former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Its chief Dr Akmal Saleh said this comes after arguments of the Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak, Datuk Abdul Rahman Sebli who chaired a five panel judges in the SRC International court case.
"Agreeing with the court's decision means respecting the decision and not taking to the streets blindly because that is what Najib has emphasised when he met with Youth (Umno) nationwide.
"But It doesn't mean that we agree with what has been decided," he said in his Facebook page today.
On Friday, Sinar reported that the Putrajaya Federal Court dismissed a bid by Najib to review his corruption conviction over the multi-billion dollar scandal at state fund 1MDB, ending Najib’s judicial efforts to challenge the guilty verdict.
Najib was jailed last year after the Federal Court upheld a guilty verdict and 12-year prison sentence handed down to him by a lower court.
The panel of five judges Abdul Rahman together with Datuk Vernon Ong Lam Kiat, Datuk Rhodzariah Bujang, Datuk Nordin Hassan and Datuk Abu Bakar Jais rejected the review with a majority of 4-1.
