SHAH ALAM - Negotiations on the allocation of exco posts or other state government posts in Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) will begin after the appointment of the new Melaka Chief Minister, says state PH chairman Adly Zahari.
The Bukit Katil assemblyman said no discussions were held between PH and previous chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Ali as both parties have yet to recieve instructions from the party’s central leadership.
Adly who is also Deputy Defence Minister said Melaka PH will support the establishment of the unity government in the state.
"Melaka PH will continue to work together with Melaka BN to ensure political stability in the country and improve economic prosperity.
"Regarding the negotiations on the state government and exco posts allocation with Melaka BN, the matter has yet to start, and we expect that discussions will be held after the appointment of a new Chief Minister.
"On whether negotiations would be done first at the state level or continued by the central PH leadership, the matter we will be looked at and informed later," he told Sinar Premium on Thursday.
The state Perikatan Nasional (PN) on the other hand wanted the new Chief Minister to focus on bringing the agenda of the people who were struggling with the high cost of living.
Its chairman Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub said he respected Sulaiman’s decision to resign based on health reasons.
He said PN will remain with its stance not to interfere in the political turmoil taking place in Melaka BN.
"We appreciate him for his services while holding the Chief Minister post.
"Me and other PN assemblymen are committed to being credible oppositions, we will continue to fight for the voice of the people and perform our duties to carry good check and balance in the state government.
"PN continues with its principles of helping the people regardless of who the appointed Chief Minister will be,” he said.
