SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) aims to win 30 state seats especially in Malay majority areas allowing them to win Selangor in the upcoming state election.
Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Razali Idris said the seats, which comprised 25 Malay majority seats and five state seats, are now controlled by Bersatu and Pas.
Razali said preparations were done for a very long time as Selangor was one of the focused states for PN in the state election after their success in the 15th general election (GE15).
Razali said the preparations were necessary as PN expects to win all six states, which will be dissolved at the end of June.
"We are counting down each day and mobilising efforts towards meeting the people at a grass-roots level, including in the month of Ramadan, to further expand the green wave and attract voter support.
"I am confident and trust that the people will vote for PN which will enable us to take over Selangor from Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the state election," he told Sinar Premium.
His comments followed PN's preparations to face the upcoming state polls.
There are 56 Selangor state seats, of which 41 are held by PH followed by PN (seven), BN (five) and Pejuang (three).
However, the Batang Kali seat owned by Pejuang was declared vacant by the Selangor State Assembly following assemblyman Harumaini Omar's failure to attend the dewan session for over six months since July 28.
The five seats held by PN were Gombak Setia, Bukit Antarabangsa, Selat Kelang, Sijangkang and Dengkil.
Razali said PN is confident it could win over Selangor as a majority of Malay voters were now rejecting the cooperation of Umno and PH and were not satisfied with the unity government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who failed to fulfil the GE15 manifesto and overcome the price hike and cost of living issues.
He said all PN component parties have given their list of candidates contesting the state elections, but it has yet to be finalised by the top leadership of the opposition coalition.
