KUALA LUMPUR - Besut Member of Parliament Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh, has been suspended for three days starting Wednesday from the Dewan Rakyat sitting for failing to comply with meeting rules.

The decision was made by the Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker, Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor, following Che Jusoh's refusal to listen to the instructions.

The commotion started following the actions of opposition members of Parliament who raised the issue of the use of English in two bills of law (RUU) that will be tabled on Wednesday.

Ramli had previously warned Che Mohamad who is from Perikatan National to sit down to make room for Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Legal and Institutional Reform), Ramkarpal Singh to give an explanation.

However, the matter was ignored by Che Mohamad, which prompted Ramli to issue a third warning and to suspend Che Mohamed from the August house for three days.

"I told you to sit down. Sit down. Sit down. Bentara, three days, finish," Ramli had said.

Che Mohd Zulkilfi once again asked for an explanation about the period of his suspension.

Before that, the Dewan Rakyat was in an uproar for almost 20 minutes after Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu) criticised the use of English words in two bills to be presented by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Legislation and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

According to him, the word causes confusion because it can mean many things in Malay.

Ramkarpal then stood up to explain that the word had also been used by the government before but it was not made into a issue.

Ramli then asked Takiyuddin and Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN - Masjid Tanah) to bring up the issue to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker if they were still not satisfied.

Ramli then decided that the bill would continue its presentation on Wednesday as scheduled.
