KUALA LUMPUR - After a three-year absence, Maybank announces its return with the Maybank Championship 2023 with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour.
This tournament, held from Oct 26 to 29 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) aims to inspire the next generation of golfers within women and promote sports.
Youth and Sport Minister Hannah Yeoh said it was a great moment to see Maybank partnering with the LPGA to promote women's sports to provide opportunities for players at the highest level.
"Together, we can close the gender disparity among athletes in our country and highlight some of the sporting most remarkable talents," Yeoh said at the Maybank Championship event at KLGC today.
"With an international tournament like this, I believe it will encourage Malaysian tourism and provide a platform for Malaysia to showcase not only our athletes but also our facilities.
Also present were Maybank Group President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli.
"With the LPGA, we have found a partner that is committed to ensuring that golf courses are an equitable place for everyone, and we are proud to stand alongside the association in realising their vision to help grow the women’s game and provide equal opportunities for girls and women of all ages."
Khairussaleh further added that with the Maybank Championship 2023, Maybank reaffirms its long-standing commitment to empower communities across Asean.
"This tournament demonstrates Maybank's commitment to cultivating an environment of excellence, both on and off the field," he explained.
The Maybank Championship 2023 will feature 68 professional golfers on the West Course of KLGCC, with ten extra seats reserved for Malaysian and Asean players.
The Maybank Championship 2023 will feature the majority of the world's top 50 female golfers, as well as a variety of community-focused projects throughout the week of events.
