BACHOK - The act of a woman hiding food in the toilet and washing machine to be sold to individuals who were not fasting was revealed after Bachok Religious Office and District Council raided her house in Tangok on Sunday.
In the raid between 10am and noon, more than 20 packets of chicken rice with iced tea were confiscated.
Bachok Religious Officer Suratemi Mat Yusof said, based on public information, members on duty had detected a house that sells food and drinks to those who were not fasting.
"The results of the inspection led to the discovery of 20 packets of rice hidden in the washing machine. In addition, we also found marinated chicken in the toilet.
"In addition, we also found iced tea hidden in the bedroom," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Monday.
According to him, as a result of interrogation, the owner of the house admitted to packing the rice before buyers contacted her to take the food.
"The woman in her 40s informed that she sells food from home throughout Ramadan to individuals who were not fasting," he said.
Suratemi said a warning notice has been issued to the woman to be counseled not to sell food in the day during Ramadan.
"In the operation, no arrests were made as the 'customers' managed to escape as soon as they realised the presence of authorities.
"We advise everyone, especially Muslims, not to eat and drink during the day in the open during this month and to respect those who are fasting," he said.
