SHAH ALAM - The Klang Valley Double Track's (KVDT) infrastructure project has been ongoing since 2015 to ensure that the rail operations is at its optimal level.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said, in a statement, that the initiave was done to improve the track's infrastructure and further improve the rail's efficiency in the Klang Valley sector.

According to the statement, the project was implemented to efficiently and effectively accomodate higher usage capacity in the future.

"Since the start of the repair and infrastructure upgrade project, the number of KTM Komuter services has been limited according to the 30-minute frequency intervals because only one track can operate while renovation was in progress.

"This is the main cause of frequent commuter delays.

The statement added that KTMB was committed to improve service quality in line with the government's effort to encourage people to use public transport services.

"Meanwhile, in the north, KTMB has added three more sets of trains making the total number of the Nothern Commuter service for Padang Besar-Butterworth-Padang Besar route and the Padang Rengas-Butterworth-Padang Rengas route to 52 trips compared to the previous 38 trips.

"Improvement on the KTM Northern Commuter line can directly meet the increasing demand of passengers through the train's frequency, especially during peak hours.

"KTMB will continue to strive to improve our service quality and performance as users' satisfaction is our main priority," the statement read.
