KUALA LUMPUR – The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Armada has filed a police report demanding that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng be investigated.
Bersatu Armada chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed that the two politicians had abused the authority of civil servants to conceal their plans under Sections 119 and 120 of the Penal Code.
"We lodged a police report about Guan Eng's slander against Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin regarding Yayasan Albukhary's tax exemption issue," he said when met after filing a police report at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD), near here, today.
Also present were Armada exco Harris Idaham Rashid and Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas.
The issue of Yayasan Albukhary's tax exemption arose after the former prime minister accused Guan Eng for revoking the tax exemption that was granted before, after the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition government was formed in the 14th General Election (GE14).
However, on March 10, Lim who is Bagan MP, denied the accusations and lodged a police report against Muhyiddin on March 22.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal went on to accuse Anwar and Lim of using known false evidence, which violated Section 196 of the Penal Code.
In addition, he said the Finance Ministry had issued a misleading statement stating that Muhyiddin's appeal for the Yayasan Albukhary's tax exemption was not cancelled or rejected by Lim or any ministry officials or the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the statement issued by the Finance Ministry was unreasonable. "This has complicated the situation and resulted in Bersatu president being prosecuted and charged with abuse of power over tax issues," he said.
