KUALA LUMPUR - Referring to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the 'Bossku' influence is still a force to be reckoned with despite imprisonment, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The former Umno Youth chief and former Rembau member of parliament (MP) said Najib's influence who once led Umno, is still strong among members and supporters and is a factor that could determine the future of the party.
He said this was apparent in the recent party polls, where many of the new faces who were elected to the Supreme Council are actually Najib's loyal supporters.
Even though Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi remains as Umno president, the public should never underestimate Najib's strength and influence.
"Datuk Seri Zahid is indeed a strong figure, but if we look closely at the new leadership in the Supreme Council, many of them are actually loyal supporters of Najib.
"Don't take lightly the voice behind.. the voice that is in prison right now and that voice is capable of determining Umno's future.
"For me, the 'Bossku' chapter is not over yet," he reiterated, adding that the people still want to know Najib's plan.
Khairy shared this earlier today in the 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast with former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan.
The recording of the podcast was also shared on his Twitter account.
"I want to share my opinion on 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast and listeners already know how I feel about Bossku after the defeat in the 14th General Election (GE14).
"Regardless that, I want to say that Bossku is still a force to be reckoned with," said Khairy, who is known to be very critical of Najib especially after Umno and Barisan Nasional's (BN) loss in 2018. - Awani
