KUALA LUMPUR - The police have summoned five individuals to record statements to assist the investigation on 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme.
Sentul District Police Chief Beh Eng Lai said the investigation papers are now in final stages of investigations before it is handed to the Attorney General's Chambers.
"So far, we have summoned five individuals, including the Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, and Badrul Hisham Shaharin (Chegubard)," he told Sinar, today.
Commenting on Chegubard's allegations that there is a cover up on the issue, Beh said the police investigation was fair and impartial regardless of race.
"The investigation is fair and impartial regardless of the race of the investigating officer and the complainant," he said.
On Sunday it was reported that the police opened an investigation regarding the organisation of the 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim reportedly said that although the programme was canceled on Saturday, a police report was lodged over the issue.
On March 14, Hannah, when concluding the 2023 budget debate for her ministry in the Dewan Rakyat, explained that the 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme does not involve Muslim individuals.
