SHAH ALAM - The government will make amendments to the bill to lower the age limit of p-hailing riders from the current 21 years to 18 years.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the ministry will draft a new regulation to govern the sector once it is approved by Parliament.
"We will amend the law to lower the age of riders from 21 to 18 in order to have a vocational driving license (GDL).
"We understand that there will be some things that worry the people but I promise to facilitate all business processes for that purpose," he said during a question-and-answer session with the audience during Sinar’s Townhall Rakyat today.
The townhall session, hosted by actor Azhar Sulaiman was an interactive platform for the people to meet face-to-face and ask various issues to the invited guests and leaders.
The program was also attended by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Director General Datuk Zailani Hashim; Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim and Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad Managing Director Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood.
