KUALA LUMPUR - Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau today grabbed the attention of those in the Dewan Rakyat when he described roads in Sabah were similar to the moon's surface.
He was debating on Budget 2023 at the committee level for the Works Ministry and made the statement after being disappointed at the quality of roads in the state.
Wilfred stated jokingly that those wanting to become astronauts can come to Sabah to feel the experience of walking on the moon.
"The congestion throughout the Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, Telupid and Sandakan Federal roads have been raised several times in Dewan Rakyat especially when the roads have suffered damage.
"The roads are riddled with holes and there was a time at Jalan Tuaran where more than five cars were stranded at the side of the road due to punctured tyres and bent wheels.
"If anyone wants to be an astronaut today don't worry. Everything is much easier nowadays, just come to Sabah and drive," he said.
He asked for an explanation as to why such matters continue to be unresolved.
He had also asked whether there were measures to ensure the roads can reduce damage to vehicles.
