GUA MUSANG - The government should ban foreign political funds made to leaders and political parties.
Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said money politics would be hard to curb if donations are channeled to individuals, organisations or political parties.
Razaleigh commonly known as Ku Li urged for laws to be drafted to prevent this culture from continuing in the country.
He said weak laws were the cause of rampant money politics and tighter laws were neede to put a stop to this.
"Firstly we must ban any individual, organisation, voluntary or political party from receiving foreign donations.
"We no longer want an individual to receive foreign funds from those who are against our country or our government to topple our government and to destroy democracy.
"I suggest for politically driven donations to be banned. It will cut any chances for individuals to supposedly to pocket funds," Razaleigh said.- Awani
