KUALA LUMPUR - Department of Standards Malaysia through a collaboration with International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) organised the ISO Asia Pacific CEO Forum on March 14 to March 16, 2023 in Kuala Lumpur.
This prestigious event gathered chief executive officers and heads of organisations of National Standards Bodies (NSB) from 22 countries in Asia Pacific region - Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu, and Viet Nam.
The forum's objective was to create a unique platform for Heads of ISO members to get together informally and discuss strategic issues regarding their organisations, their mutual relationships, and their engagement with ISO.
The forum was officiated by Department director-general Shaharul Sadri Alwi.
"We will explore how to work together to implement the ISO Strategy 2030. These ambitious plans set out a vision for the future of standardisation and outline a roadmap for achieving it,” Shaharul said in his opening speech.
The forum was an ideal setting for fostering constructive dialogue, sharing information and experiences, identifying common challenges and solutions to those challenges, and considering or promoting cooperation in selected areas among the ISO members within the region.
Members also discussed efforts and actions needed to implement the ISO Strategy 2030.
They have agreed that success will depend on close collaboration, innovation, and adaptability and they are confident that this forum will help to catalyse these efforts.
