SHAH ALAM - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is ready to govern the six states involved in the upcoming state elections.
PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abd Halim said the party already has a strong base and dominance in several other states after the 15th General Election (GE15) and its influence has spread to Kelantan, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu.
"Today (Saturday) we gather to give a clear signal to not only the opposition party but also the people, that PKR is ready to lead the country again in the state level for the upcoming state election.
"We have not governed Selangor and Penang for a year or two, we are part of the state government for a long time now. We have proven our strength from the many programmes that could not be compared to other states in terms of achievement, quality, deliverance and benefits received by the people.
"As one of the party that governs the country, I am confident that we can do it together.
"Give the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) the opportunity to outline the base and pay attention to what is being presented. This is our responsibility," he said during the closing session of the PKR Special National Congress 2023 held at the Malawati Stadium, on Saturday.
Adam who is also Youth and Sports Deputy Minister, reminded the party leaders to always give cooperation and forget the old feuds to ensure the process for the state elections could run smoothly.
He said the party members could not work in silo and invited leaders at the grassroots and head levels to give their cooperation.
"We are the government and no longer the opposition.
"The people's evaluation about us is no longer about who is featured but the actual brand we are selling. It's not just about the face acting as the party icon, we have to prove that the government can take care of the people's interest and can make sure the country's leadership and management is going well.
"For the upcoming state election, we admit that we have so many to fix and we have to take into account the complaints made by the grassroots leadership to ensure the government's plans can be implemented and people can enjoy the benefits," he said.
